Import 2018 Workspace into 2019

I feel this is something that should be simple to do and I'm just missing something.  How do I import all of things that I changed in my Workspace in 2018 to 2019?  I usually just end up starting from scratch each time, which is a pain in backside, and I'm sure I'm making it harder than it needs to be.  I tried opening the 2018 c3d.cuix file in 2019 and I get an error stating:

Partial customization file cannot have the same Customization Group Name as the main customization File.  

I'm not sure what a "Customization Group Name" is.  I'm guessing that's the one at the top of the list called "CIVIL"?  Am I supposed to change the name of that?

And what's the point of AutoDesk 360 synchronization?  I have an account and it says it's synchronizing.  Shouldn't it automatically update my Workspace when I go to another computer and sign in or upgrade to a new version and sign in?

Well, shoot, that didn't quite work.  It only brought over the ribbons "Home" and "Insert" and left off 8 other ribbons.  I guess I'll just keep dragging things and saving and see if I can get it all transferred.  I know the CUI is powerful, but it shouldn't be this buggy and complicated after all these years.

All the ribbons show up in 2018 when I load the CUIX i created.  So not sure why they aren't showing up in 2019.

So here's what I'm talking about.  I created "My Workspace" in 2018 and you can see in the first pic it has a bunch of tabs.  I transfer it to a cuix file.  Import the cuix file into 2019, and only the first two Ribbon Tabs are there.

Of course all i have to do to fix this is add some ribbons so not that big of a deal.  

What I really wanted to transfer over were all the Quick Properties customization I had created.  But it doesn't look like that can be transferred.

Me too. That's a bit of work to have to re-do that every year, for sure.

@tcorey and @Anonymous, create a partial menu, copy the edited QuickAccess tool bar to the new menu and give it a unique name and Alias, edit the Workspace to use the QATB in the partial menu, now use the Transfer to save the workspace. In 2019, Load the partial menu, use the Transfer utility to import the Workspace and set it current. The QATB will now be your custom one.

I have the same partial menu that I started in C3D 2009 that I just load into every version since. This is where I keep all of my DoubleClick actions, custom toolbars, commands, etc. saved. I had never tried bringing over the QATB until just now (I don't typically edit it), but just tested this and it works just fine.

OK, so creating the Object List and the QP settings in the same Partial Menu file will then allow them to be used in other versions of C3D. Plus, this has the added advantage of the same changes will be reflected in any version of C3D which loads this partial menu.

Thanks, yeah, I was getting ready to say that!  I really like have Quick Properties on, but it's a real pain to have to edit every little drawing object to give you what you want.  It's extremely useful only if it's set up properly and it takes me a long time to get it the way I like it.  Then **POOF** a new version and have to start over.  Almost makes QP pointless.

OK, dumb question, how do I "create a partial menu"?  I know how to create Workspaces and add things to that.  And I see "Partial Customization Files" and "Menus".  I don't think you are meaning to create a new "Menu" and there doesn't seem to be a way to create "Partial Customization Files".  I also see that my QP are saved under "Partial Cust. Files" and "ACAD".

To create a new cuix file, just open the CUI, go to the Transfer tab, the right side should have an empty customization file, just save it with the name you wish in a location you have set in the Support paths (I have a folder, outside of the C3D Install location, just named "MyCustomTools" and inside it I have small lisps, my acad.lsp & acaddoc.lsp, and my custom cuix). Now that new cuix file should be loaded under the partial files and you can edit it as needed. Next time you have a new version, just load that new cuix as a partial customization file. And, remember that the last laoded file will take precedence over already loaded files. So if you change one of the QP properties in the custom file, and it is loaded after the Acad.cuix, then yours will be the ones used, not those defined in Acad.cuix.

Ah, OK, I've done that before, just didn't know the proper terminology.  I see kinda what you're talking about with the loading under partial.  Just have to get in there and play with it some more.  I probably should find some class on all this, but who the heck has time for that!  But it's kinda of Catch 22.  If you don't take some time and learn how to customize Autocad, you probably end up wasting more time being inefficient than the class would have taken.

I had just assumed because when you selected Quick Properties on the Customization tab, it says this node cannot be transferred, that it could not be transferred. That must just mean that you can't drag-n-drop it.

It's very cool how all versions can use the file without transferring again. The power of Partial CUI files revealed!

Whenever i set a QP via the tooltip box that appears I always get a warning message and have done for the past several releases

What warning message?

To add/edit a custom CUI's QPs:

Each new one added will have a red ! which is a warning that you haven't set any properties to display. So select each one and add the properties you are interested in for that object.
