HOW TO USE FIELD BOOK DATA

Hi All,

I am trying to use survey data (.txt file comma delemited). when i use automatic linework "yes", it creates a mess. lines are all over the drawing and can't make correct survey figurea.

can anyone help me out please?

Have you read the "field to finish", in the help files
It helped me a lot.
Did you set the survey point coeds and the figure styles?

Hi Dave,

Yes i can certainly send you my filed data. it is a .txt file. we use PNENZD(cooma delemited) .

please let me know how i can use them witout having all survey lines all over the drawing.

Do a search in the help files for "field to finish" and you should find it. Autodesck also has an excellent book you can order that's geared for the survey aspect that Dave p sugested i get. I found it to be humongas help.

Looking at your point file, I can see why. In order for the automatic linework to work correctly, the description must signal when to begin and end the line.

1,18.6740,314.0320,942.6130,CL

Instead of "CL", you'll want to use instead "CL B" or "B CL" to start the line. When you want to end the line, use a description of "CL E" or "E CL".

And ahead of time you'll want to set up your Figure Prefix Database so that a description of "CL" uses a particular linetype and layer.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the help. I figure the automatic line type for the field data won't be exactly automatic. I have to do lots of ground work and for each project it has to change as well.

Yes , I started that section of help file.

One thing I wanted to ask - if I rearrange all these survey data (using spread sheet and then save as .txt) by their code and renumber all the data, do you think it will work?

Mir,

Under "Process linework during import", you can select either "by point number" or "by import order". So you can rearrange your points and you won't have to renumber them.
