How to make dxf file in civil 3d which can be used as dtm in leica cs20?

Hi,

i have created a surface in civil 3d but I don’t know how to create a DTM which i can use in leica cs 20 controller. I tried exporting xml but shape of surface got distorted.

i am curious that few engineer uses dxf file as dtm model, can anyone help me if I can create that specific dxf file which i can use as dtm in leice controller. Thanks in advance.

The C220 controller can import LandXML files as well. You should probably try that first.

Hey rl_jackson thanks for your response. I tried that but it gets distorted as new triangles formed.

however, i found the solution by just exploding it into 3d faces.

initially when it was not exploded and i tried to import it into leica as dtm, it was responding as no 3d face found. But after exploding same file in civil 3d for 2 times untill i got 3d faces, it was fine and i was able to import it as dtm in leica cs 20 controller.

Instead of exploding the original Civil Surface simply extract displayed triangles as 3DFACE objects using command: SurfaceExtractObjects.

udo_huebner, can you please also guide me how to covert this drawing so that i can import it into gps of excavator. I have seen their format and it is written as one file as geo and second as trm
