This has to do with your contour label style and/or the layer they're set to.  You should be able to set the style to whatever layer you want with the label color ByLayer (recommended) or set the label color to whatever color you want it to be.  If those are set up correctly, but it's not working, I'm not sure what could be the problem.  Perhaps you could post a sample file?

I'm not sure there's a way to have it do it automatically, perhaps someone else can weigh in.  I would set my label style color to be ByBlock, and then change each one to the color it needs to be.  Sorry, that's probably not the answer you were looking for.

dkinnearBUV5J has a good point but I go to Annotate>Add Labels>Line and Curve Labels. That opens an Add Labels box that on the top has a pull down for Feature. Hit that and select Surface then label type Contour-Single. Then you can edit the Major contour label style by picking Edit current selection from the little box to the right of it. In the General tab you can set the layer. I'll add the digits behind the decimal can be controlled in the Layout tab in the Text Contents. Pick the <surface elevation and another editor will open up. Change the properties to Surface Elevation and you can set the precision of the display. Your may need to hit the arrow to change the info in the black window.

These 'contours' are splined polylines. Civil 3D line/curve labels will not attach them. Even if they did, they wouldn't inherit the color that is assigned directly to each object.

The closest thing to automatic I can think of would be a block with an attribute set to show the Z value of the block itself and its color set to by block. Placing the block on the line would inherit the Z value of the line. Match properties from the line to the block to set the color.

Yes, I assumed that the file posted was exported from a C3D file or was just an example.  I also thought, after my original post, that the poster knew about setting up the contour label styles, but was specifically hoping to make the colors work automatically.  Maybe this is not the case.

I didn't think about using a block with attributes.  That definitely seems the way to go if this is not a surface.  I would add something to consider, not a big thing, but I have noticed that when using a True Type Font, giving the text object a Z value makes it bold (at least in versions previous to 2018, which I haven't checked).  In the sample drawing, the labels were Arial.  If this is a problem, RomanD with an appropriate line weight looks very similar to Arial, and is not affected by the Z value.

My bad, hadn't opened the dwg and presumed there was a surface.

No, you were correct.  The file did not contain a surface.  I assumed because the poster was asking about labels in the Civil 3D forum, that he/she was labeling contours from a surface.  It was my bad.  Smiley Happy

In other words, we need more information.

Thank you all for support !!!

What I posted is just a sample, what i want exactly from Civil 3d surface & contour. Many other software generate contour in this style with label. Then there must be some way in Civil 3D as well !

I'm sorry, but as far as I know, there's no way to associate the color with the color of the contour.  The only thing I can think of is what I posted before with a label style with color set to ByBlock and manually changing the colors.  Or if colors are repeated, set up a style for each color.  I wish I could help.  Maybe someone else knows a better way.
