How to draw Cogo points on a certain point group?

I've created a point group called Design.  I want to draw cogo points into my drawing using the manual tool and I want them to be drawn onto the Design point group.  Instead, it puts them in the "All Points" group.

I've set my default settings for CreatePoint to have them drawn on a layer called PNTS_DESIGN and the marker style set to be different than surveyed points.  And all of that works.  But when I draw them, they come in on the "All Points" group, then I have to switch them to the Design group.

I don't want to have to go back and "include" them to the Design point group.  I want this to happen as I draw.  Is this possible?

Hi Jessica,
"I don't want to have to go back and 'include' them to the Design point group. I want this to happen as I draw. Is this possible?"
Nope. At the least you'll have to "update" your PNTS_DESIGN point group.

They will always show up in the all points group, hence the name.  Put your Design points group above all points, in there include the station range of points.  As you create them they will be included.  You'll will have to update the point group after you're done and they are in that point group.  Points can be in as many groups as you wish, point groups are really  just a display style is all.

Updating is a joke at this point, it should be automatic.  So is regen for that matter.

This is why we added the Update PointGroups Automatically option to the Sincpac about 12 years ago. Really surprised that Autodesk still hasn't made this the default action.

Yay!  This did it!  In the point group properties for my Design point group, I went to the Include tab, checked the box for "Numbers matching" and set the range from 10000-11999 (which was the range of points numbers I want to enter design points in).  After drawing a point, I did have to update the point group.  But everything came in as I intended it to.

Thanks!
