How Do I Fix Crowded Point Labels?

I know this has been asked before but digging up a useful thread has been very difficult.

I have heard of a mythical automatic spacing tool that will detect overlapping point labels and then to attempt to do its best to space and even use leaders.

I have heard there is a drag function but don't know much about it.

Any links to guides or answers here would be a life saver. Thank you!

Select a point, select the grip that IS NOT the point node and move it away from the point node, the label will be in drag state at that point.

Hi Jesse,
@TerryDotson has a really nice "mythical automatic spacing tool" in his DotSoft collection.

Thanks for the mention.  DotSoft's C3DTools contains a Leaders tool that automatically extends the labels of selected CogoPoints using various methods, including radial for clusters.

I create a Point Label Style that has a smaller marker and text. Assign that style to tightly packed points and zoom in to read the points.
