Help with Creating a Grading Object Between Two Feature Lines of Different Elevations

Good day

I would like to do what is described in my subject line for my site grading projects. I know that I can simply create a fill within an area enclosed by feature lines, and I'm happy to do this in flat areas, but where the enclosed area is not flat I would like to show slope lines from the higher feature line to the lower one, allowing for varying grades depending on the elevations of the feature lines.

Please consider the attached drawing showing two platforms in plan view. The top platform is at constant elevation and the bottom platform has a fall and is therefore at varying elevation. I desire to show slope lines on the bank between the platforms.

Assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

I don't see why you could not use infill feature in this case though the area is not flat?

You just have to have enough elevation points or points of intersections (PI) to get the triangulation right.

There's a screenshot from my test.

Not hundred percent sure this is what you wanted.

I haven't looked at your drawing but can't you just use a projection grading designed to you offset? that you get the pattern. criterior = slope at distance? etc. if there are transitions they can be accomplished too by placing the projection(s) at known offsets and grading tool transition

It sounds like you're using the grading objects to display the slopes in your production drawings. The grading objects only display that when they are using a criteria to calculate the projection from the featureline. Since infills aren't doing that, there are no grading lines to display. You could either use an infill or just add the featurelines to a surface directly.

Hi Mikko

Thanks for your reply. Yes I could do that but I want to display a slope pattern in that area like one gets with cut/fill grading objects.

N
