Hatch spacing issue with description keys

We use description keys for automatically labeling trees in our drawings scaled to their correct diameter.

The tree block that is associated with the description key is a circle with an ANSI31 hatch, spacing set at 0.304 on a 1 foot circle.

I would like to find a way to keep the hatch spacing fixed at 0.304 even when the circle is scaling to match the diameter of the tree. Currently, it is scaling the hatching with the diameter and it makes the hatch on smaller trees too dense and on larger trees too sparse.

Is there a work around for this or are there any better methods? Thanks

Hi Tyler,
I don't know if it would make a difference, but is your tree block, and its hatch, annotative?
Maybe a fractal-looking tree block would work better.

The hatch is not annotative. If I make it annotative it makes the situation worse because it scales to the layout scale and then to the tree diameter making the hatch completely disappear in most cases because the spacing becomes so large.

Changing our style to a tree symbol without a hatch might be the best option or a fractal look like you had mentioned.

Without Pictures, or a file that represents what you're doing with the keys, is difficult. I believe if you want the 1/1 scale to hold you and the key to scale it accordingly you need to set the hatch as non-annotative, they the point style will be annotative but the hatch, should scale.

Need a little more here....
