Hardware acceleration

Autocad does not work properly with Hardware acceleration turned on. I bought an APPROVED GPU (AMD WX 5100) It has the highest rating by autodesk. And I can not even use C3D with it on. I have a Intel Xeon CPU 8 core @ 3.3 GHz. 16 GB of ram, 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD, Windows 10 Pro. I dont understand why CAD is so slow. It really does not matter the file size or what drawing I am working with xrefs or none. Of course the larger the drawing the worse it gets. Can anyone help me with this?

Hmm apparently I didn't search hard enough for threads like mine, but I posted about a similar issue. I have a computer that is above and beyond the minimum spec requirements, but my line colors in model space display incorrectly and the only solution is to disable hardware acceleration. I'm replying to this to keep up with any solutions presented to see if they help me too.

I have the AMD WX5100 (and formerly the RX480).   I have never had an issue with the WX 5100, Autocad Civil 3D is buttery smooth.  I think it has more to do with your CPU.   Autocad is mostly single threaded (I understand is occasionally uses a 2nd thread), instead it likes raw horsepower.   I am running a 7700k and it runs Civil 3D 2018 just fine (a 2nd computer has a 4 yo  Intel 4670k & it runs just fine).

If you can afford to upgrade, I would look at the new i5 or i7 CPU's from Intel, or the AMD Ryzen's (1700 to 1800x).

If you can't afford to upgrade, change your power profile on W10 pro to High performance. 

And I would disregard the "minimum hardware requirements" from Autodesk.

 Thanks for your reply. I have a Intel Xeon CPU E3-1230 v3. From my understanding that should be fine. What are your thoughts?

My CPU is just a little faster than yours and 2017 runs fine for the most part. Can you explain how Civil 3D doesn't work at all and let us know what version you're using? I must admit that I'm puzzled that it's hardware Acceleration that seems to be causing the problem. Usually if there's a problem. It's only visual.

Just wanted to update you. AMD released a new driver on 2/13/2018 and it
fixed the issues. AutoCAD was not offloading to the GPU before. Even with
hardware acceleration turned on in fact that made it worse. Now with the
updated driver it is working properly and all is well!!!!!
