Grading Tools for Grading Feature Lines with Large Slopes

Hello Everyone,

In the attached drawing, you will find a surface which I have creating using grading objects. One issue I am having is on the southeast corner of the surface. It appears that in that corner there is a slope of about 45%.  This is an issue since the maximum allowable slope for this surface is 33.3% (or 3H:1V). I am wondering, using this surface, what is the easiest way to regrade this area so that the final finished surface is 3:1. The original grading object in this area was created using one feature line which had a grade break where you are seeing this change in slope. I believe the resultant slope vector using a 3:1 grading combine with the vertical grade break caused a larger than 3:1 slope on the final surface.

All help is appreciated. Thanks,

Your slopes all appear to be 1:3

I can see a small area just at the edge on the south east corner that Joe didn't label in his picture. Is that the spot you're talking about?

If it is really important that this sliver of area be at the 33% max slope, I suggest you edit your featureline to avoid the vertical step. If your featureline represents something that actually needs the step, then I think you should not do the grading from this featureline. Can you create a new featureline, smooth out the step, and grade from there? For problems like this it helps me to think about the real world. How will this actually get built? How can I best represent that in the software?
