Hi Dear helper,

 

I'm working on a project as you can see it below. i have a building pad an i want to grade it to edges of my surveyed site. how can i do it without defining any Grade or slope because i just want to connect the pad to the edges (RED rectangles ) with whatever slope it takes ???

Hi @s.sajjad.jafari,

 

Would you consider using corridor? If yes, then using Civil 3D version 2018 onwards can create corridor by using the featureline as the alignment. Create an assembly and use LinkOffsetOnSurface (Target the surface and target the red site boundary.)

 

Output should look like this.

See attached animated gif as a guide and sample drawing using Civil 3D 2018. (25mb approx)

 

Maybe, another option is to drape the red poly to the surface and just make a surface from pad to the drape surface. I would personally prefer to use corridor.

Thank you sir. that's a good idea but i also want to calculate the fill/cut volume by grading surface. is it possible to calculate the cut/fill volume and also balance it like the way we use the grading?

That was a creative idea sir but not my answer. let me tell you more about my problem.

I have a building pad between two roads with different levels ( The top and down Edges of the surveyed site is the level of the roads ). The place of the building pad has been located but the height of the pad is not defined. I want to define the height of the pad by connecting it to the roads ( red rectangles area ) by grading and calculating the fill/cut volume by it.  The grading should connect top and down sides of the building pad to the top and down edges of the site with whatever slope it takes.

I'd be so appreciated if anyone could help me.

I agree with grading infill workflow as the fastest option as suggested by @Joe-Bouza. Using that concept please see attached animated gif (approx 11mb) to guide you regarding volume.

the beauty here is : open the the volume dash and simply raise lower the pad FL to balance

Hi @s.sajjad.jafari,

 

Based on the sample drawing if you adjust Pad RL to 736 then your cut and fill is close to each other.

Adjust as RL if you want to make it closer until you are happy. See sample animated gif as a guide.

@s.sajjad.jafari & @Jowennl We should consider sub-grade; how thick is the pad and does the site require stripping. Also, does the site need to be graded to prevent runoff from leaving the site (and graded away from pad) , is ther going to be an access road (how thick) these consideration could have a significant effect on the pad elevation to balance.

 

using the same techniques combined with a DDTS we can fine tune even better

Wow! that is one huge pad! what is it for?

 

I was fooling around with an imaginary sub-grade  so I though id sketch in the road and parking pad! its like a drop in a bucket compared to the pad.

 

Am I measuring that right? 80X160 meters, thats like 3 acres yikes
