Geotechical modeler, unable to import borehole data.

Hi

I cannot get the Geotechnical Modeler to read my .ags file, always the same error "An unexpected error has occured.". And it isnt just this .ags, couldnt get it to work on another project aswell. It works perfectly in the old Geotechnical module. Im running Civil 3D 2023, latest version. Picture below of the error :

Hi @jaanYPY4L! Can you send the AGS file? Also, did you try importing CSV files too? It might be an installation issue...

The sample files work, only if i extract the .zip file where the files Field Geological Descriptions, Location Details and Orientation and Inclination. I can send you the .ags file in PM, since it's not my creation, but again, it works in the old Geotechnical Module. Why shouldn't it work in the new program?

Ok, the issue is with the AGS groups.

In Geotechnical Module, the importation is Ok. There is a warning that SAMP group is not possible to import. Still, it imports successfully. Check this: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-forum/ags-import-geotechnical-module/td-p/6311376.

In Geotechnical Modeler, the import process returns this error message you sent. I opened the AGS file in notepad, and deleted ALL groups except PROJ, LOCA and GEOL. The Modeler imports it. There is an error message too but does not affect the application apparently.

Conclusion: we need more support for AGS, definitely. The Modeler, as the Module, should do this filter work of the AGS groups. I work with CSV files and the problems are usually easy to solve. Perhaps, a workflow with the Module in C3D 2022 or previous would be better for you until these issues are solved, if you are used to AGS.

Thanks a lot for the effort, works now perfectly. This is an unfortunate thing for me to happen with the new Modeler, because the firms that do our geological surveys work with and supply us with .ags files, and ideally, we should be able to just load the .ags file the firm sends us. The old Geotechnical Modeler works fine so far, just wanted to try out the new program. But if we have to edit our .ags files everytime, we are better off using the old Module for now. Hope they improve the .ags import soon on the new modeler!

Trying to import the attached files into Geo-Modeler and keep getting the following error on mine and a fellow co workers computers. Both Running 2023 AEC collection.

The attached CSV files were actually fixed and able to import from one of our ECAD techs and they were able to import just fine. We also were able to import on another coworkers computer running C3D 22 with Geotech modeler 22 and it worked just fine. Tried to menuload geo modeler 22 into my C3D 23 and still coming up with same error.
