Geometry Editor does not recognize profile, says it's wrong type

Hello,

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?  I created a surface profile, that contains a main road alignment and then some offsets.  I have a TOP of CURB profile with offsets for existing ground.  I need to add a vertical curve to the TC profile, but the geometry editor does not seem to want to recognize it, or says its's the wrong type.  What I want to do seems easy to do in C3D, select profile > geometry editor > use two points and a K value to add vertical curve.  But, the geo editor/Profile Layout Tools palette does not do anything and often says the object (the profile I selected) is not the right type and has been filtered out and make another selection.

I am just a couple months of using C3D, I guess I am missing something here.

Thank you,

Michael

Is it possible that you're trying to use the geometry editor on a dynamic surface profile?

If so, you need to set the profile to be 'static' first. (meaning its no longer dynamically linked to the surface that created it and will no longer update if that surface changes)   Select the profile, go the the properties window and fine a line item for 'Profile Update Mode', set it to static.  Now you can edit it just like a design profile.
