GeographicLocation issue inquiry

Good day

I have not been able to use the GeoGraphicLocation mapping services in Civil 3D 2024 and up. and I've attached the two screens that I am getting when trying to use it but unfortunately the IT team where I work have not been able to resolve it.

I am curious if anyone has experience the same thing, and have idntified a workaround or a solution.

Please let me know if there are any questions, or suggestions for me to go about troubleshoot this issue.

There may have been an issue at one point. Make sure you have all updates installed. I don't know much else since I don't use Bing or ESRI images.

Hi Jeffrey,
Don't use Geographic Location. That is meant for Vanilla AutoCAD, and it usually trashes C3D and Map 3D drawings. Use either MAPCSASSIGN/MAPCSLIBRARY or set your coordinate system in Drawing Settings. If you need to search for a particular location, use Zoom >> Center and 'NE or 'LL.

First things first......get your Aerial imagery working (e.g. Bing Maps). 

Try this:

1. Open a blank template, the type with one layer named 0 (zero). Don't use your firm's office template.  
2. Command line=>MAPCSASSIGN=>In search box, enter 3857=>Select or highlight the search result=>Click Assign
3. Go to Geolocation Tab=>Turn on Map with Aerial Imagery (e.g. Bing Hybrid) <<Zoom out to see the map.>>
4. Geolocation Tab=>Location Panel=>Click Remove Location=>Yes to confirm
5. Next, use MAPCSASSIGN to establish your desired coordinate system then turn on aerial imagery (e.g. Bing Hybrid). 

***Note: Don't use the Geolocation button, that way is tricky.***

BTW, if aerial image doesn't appear in step #3, then your AutoCAD program is not able to connect to the internet.
