Generate hatch boundary producing lines, not polyline

In a particular drawing, when I select my hatch and generate a boundary from it, the boundary is all single line segments. Every vertex on the hatch  is where the segments begin and end. I've never seent his before. Is there some hidden option within the hatchgenerateboundary command that controls this?

Hi Chris,

Would you be willing to upload the drawing you are having this issue with?

Also, what version of Civil 3D are you currently using?

I have had this issue before.

Three things seem to cause it.

Try using hatch edit, 'recreate boundary' at some point you are asked if you want Polylines, answer yes and then you should always get a poly till you say no using hatch edit.

The second thing is the hatch was created with 3D lines (1 or more points with non 0 elevations) or at a elevation other than 0. I don't know of any fix other than flattening and rejoining the lines and then setting the boundary to the new poly.

The third is a strange one. Some how the boundary isn't closed. How such hatch gets created i don't know. The fix is same as the second.

I have tried those two methods and have no been able to recreate this issue. I have been testing this with Civil 3D 2016 and 2015. Is there a particular version you are seeing this on?

So I can't post the file due to copyright issues, but I can send it to you. The issue is partly resolved. Some of the boundary lines generated are polylines, some other boundaries are single line segments. I don't know why some work and some don't.

I found that a rogue spline as part of the original boundary was causing this issue.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the issue. I am getting individual polylines generated when recreating boundary for simple rectangular areas of hatch with NO curves or complex shapes.
