I was wondering if there is a way to create a General Note Label style that uses a Block w/attibute instead of text? If so how do I add or change the attribute value for individual notes?
I'm hoping I can use this method for creating Key Marks for my drawings instead of using an MLEADER style the uses the block.
Thank you for any help or suggestions.

You can use a block in a label style. I'm not sure if you can use a dynamic block. I have never tried. Now I'm going to try. Stay tuned...
I tried to setup a style that used my block and it inserted it but I had no way of setting or changing the value of the attribute. The block isn't Dynamic, it's just a regular block with a single attribute.
Yep. I just tried it, you only get the block itself. I would head over to the Idea Station and post it. I will vote it up.
I'm afraid that you're correct. I'll have to think about how best to possibly set up a style with text and other components and masking to achieve the same result as if I was able to use my block.
We've been asking for this for years. I have a huge need to be able to insert block symbols, including several attributes, and have the blocks see their station & offset, then do a data extraction to go out to Excel, edit the data, then reimport as a new table.
Unfortunately none of the built-in tools can do this. You have a crude and clumsy workaround if you are willing to mis-use a Pipe Network, and assigning your custom blocks to a bunch of structures. And after structure name & description you're limited to only four more text data fields.
This is a really disappointing and frustrating lack of a powerful design function and Autodesk has been ignoring it since C3D was released.
Multileaders can use blocks with attributes but not dynamic blocks. The block has none of its dynamic features available when used in the multileader.
Label styles can use blocks but as you and others have seen the blocks go dumb, no attribute access nor dynamic features
You could get creative by using a block in the label style and then carefully place text components of the label to appear in the desired location within the block. You can leave one of the text components as just text and use a label edit to change what is contains for that instance of the label. But no field values. (not entirely sure of the fields but I really doubt it)
To clarify what I said. No you cannot use attributes. You can use a block and style components in the location formerly occupied by your attributes

Why is it a crude, clumsy or a misuse? Its a data object. No where is it listed that the object is to be exclusively used for a utility. Set up a part list and go. Insert a block, insert a structure. whats the difference?
<And after structure name & description you're limited to only four more text data fields. >
Not true. It can be limitless.

Oh, I see where that reply came from now. I missed that post. My bad. Been a loooooong 2 weeks.
@ToddRogers-WPM no worries. The new GUI is different enough I could have been replying to a Dynamic Block thread lol

How do we change the default location the leader line is assigned to block? Here is what my annotative block with attribute looks like (note I right click on the C3D General Note Label Style and select Edit Label Text to change the attribute value)
