General Legal Description for Parcels Report error

I am trying to run a General Legal Description for Parcels Report from the Toolbox and I get the following error:  "Error displaying report.  There is no application associated with the given file name extension.  This error will also be returned if you attempt to print a file that is not printable."

I have seen posts from several years ago about this, but they didn't have solutions.  It worked fine in 2024 but it is not working for me in 2026.  It is working for other users in 2026 though.

I did try following this from Autodesk https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-displaying-r... but my default app for .xls files was already set to Excel.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Since the report works for other users on Civil 3D 2026, it sounds like the issue may be specific to your Windows or Office configuration rather than the report itself.

Could you please provide the following information?

Which version and edition of Microsoft Excel are you using (Microsoft 365, Office 2021, etc.)?

If you save the report instead of opening it automatically, are you able to open the generated .xls file manually in Excel?

Does the issue occur with all Toolbox reports or only the General Legal Description for Parcels report?

Have you recently updated either Office or Civil 3D?

These details will help determine whether the problem is related to the file association, Excel registration, or the report launcher in Civil 3D.
