Free Tool: Generate Clean Slope/Embankment Patterns without 3D Distortion

Hi everyone,

Drawing slope patterns on steep terrain often leads to overlapping lines or messy geometry when standard tools try to calculate patterns directly from 3D objects (like high retaining walls or deep channels).

To fix this, I developed the Smart Slope Generator, a custom .NET tool that projects 3D geometry onto a 2D planimetric plane before distribution, ensuring cartographically correct and evenly spaced lines. It is published on the Autodesk App Store and is completely free.

Core Functionality: The tool generates professional embankment patterns between standard Polylines, 3D Polylines, and Civil 3D Feature Lines without breaking or crashing on complex intersections.

Technical Features (v1.1.2 Update):

• Precision 2D Projection: Eliminates 3D distortion by strictly using Z-Axis projection for high-elevation geometries.

• Interactive Live Preview: A real-time JIG canvas updates instantly as you adjust parameters, showing exactly how the pattern will look before you finalize it.

• Elastic Algorithm: Proportionally distributes lines and cleanly handles complex corners or closed-loop seams.

• Advanced Styling & Orientation: Includes options for triangular tapering, specialized symbols (circles/ticks), and intelligent auto-detection of the downhill direction (Toe vs. Crest).

• Wipeout Support: Automatically generates a background Wipeout beneath the pattern to hide underlying contour lines.

Compatibility: AutoCAD and Civil 3D 2021 - 2027 (including verticals).
