Hello

like ARCMAP make with points.

You can create multiple point groups within your default template that will sort the data based on there raw description and when you import the point and update the point groups the will sort as you provide.

Apply percussive maintenance technique to the field crews.  Allowing field crews to make up their own descriptions is a waste of everyone's time, and a recipe for disaster.

A printed code list small enough to fit in a field book is a much easier solution.

I agree with @sboon. 10-15 surveyor crews doing there own thing is a recipe for disaster. There should be a standard code list. Sure there will be some things that come up in the field that don't fit the everyday norm but if you have edge of pavement to locate then that code should be either EP or EOP. At least for the past 25 yrs I've done survey work it has been.

I agree with you normaly i don't looking for this kind of solution. but in this case we have lot of exception and i find a way to manage it.

On other contract i have the control on this issues. But not in this one. But im new there and this contract as been created 2 years ago.

Normaly when i have too many exception. I manage myself the pcode and "standarize" it when the surveyors give me the files. But its not my job in this place.

We have a pcode list but its not possible to manage all of it.

Poweful software like Arcgis can enumerate all the different occurencies in a field. I search something like this.

I agree with you.. but its not possible for the moment.

So can c3d. You just need to add all the options (codes) to the particular group. So if one crew does EP and another does EOP and yet another does EA. Just add them all to the that group.

If you already have working drawings you only have to setup the point groups once. You can drag point groups from drawing to drawing just like a style. Drag them into your template as well.

It begs to be asked...why would you want a point group for each individual point description? That's a lot of point groups.
