File Path stuck on screen

Anonymous
Not applicable

Something has happened in civil 3d 2016 were the full file path is stuck on my screen all the time. I haven't been able to find anyone else who has had this problem. It's starting to get very frustrating. It stays in the same location, and occasionally fades into the background, but when I move my mouse again, it is back. If I have civil 3d open it also displays over whatever else is open in front of it. I have two monitors running, and I've attached a picture of a screen shot, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I get that from time to time. The only way I have been able to remove it is to restart C3D. Luckily, for me at least, it's rare.

I have some ARCMAP users who have this same thing occasionally in that application. I think it's video driver related.

As a test, switch to (or from) hardware acceleration and back.

I did get it to go away for now restarting, but I know that it comes back pretty often. It's there for on average about half of my work day.

I'll try to switch the hardware acceleration next time it happens. It is a frequent problem. Thanks for your suggestions.

Something isn't flushing the graphics after it hovers over the file. Is there a Windows Explorer Dialog box behind it that it's picking up the file location from? Is there a particular dialog box it shows up on?

The trick would be to find the pattern and then make sure before moving on the graphic is cleared from the screen. I was debugging a graphic like this yesterday and my problem was that I wasn't properly removing the graphics because I kept creating them and not removing them. I suspect something similar is happening here.

There are no windows or explorer boxes open behind it. It shows up somewhere in the middle of my drawing window. I've toggeled the graphic accelerater on and off with no results. The only thing that makes it go away is restarting the program. However, it comes back often which is annoying more then anything. Thanks for the advice everyone.

I get this also. I click on the start tab and then back to the drawing and it goes away. Quicker than restarting.

Thank You Jmartt

Switching back to start and back was a quick fix.

I get this bug fairly often

That was an awesome tip. I hate closing it all down, especially if I have multiple drawings open. Thanks Jmartt!

get this as well , it seems as if your mouse was hovering over a recent document on your start screen when you open up a drawing , then the file path of said drawing will then appear on your drawing when it opens and it wont go away . this has only started for me since installing autocad 2016 , its annoying as hell but easily rectified by just clicking back to the start page , moving your mouse till the path dissapears and then going back into your drawing again.

this needs patching asap .

This was seriously killing me too. The 'STARTMODE 0' command has resolved it instantly. No idea what that command does but so grateful. Thankyou!!!!

do the following procedure solution for subjected matter !

  • Set the STARTMODE variable to 0 (zero). You may also want to set STARTUP to 0 (zero).
  • Set the 'Number of recently-used files' in Options under the Open and Save tab to 0 (zero).

Hope it will solve.

presss Ctrl+Tab together to rotate the drawing view will make the file path stuck on screen disappear.

This worked for me where nothing else suggested would.

You may have moved the image from one Explorer location to another.
