Feature Lines

I'm working on a drawing that some of the field work was coded for auto line work but the rest of it was not. How do I draw the same type of lines manually that the auto line work is drawn on?

Hi Friend-

If you have a survey database setup for the other linework with codes (or Survey Figures), open the Survey Database.  Select Figures collection, and right click and select "create figures interactively". 

If you have the survey database points inserted into the drawing, you could reference them as you interactively create the Survey Figures that don't have linework code sets.

What kind of lines? Polylines, FeatureLines, Survey Figures?

Normally we would manually connect the points once at 0 elevation on respective layers. Then connect the points again at the correct elevations on a break line layer and then use those break lines to generate a topo.

Our client wants one set of lines on respective layers used to generate the topo. What would be the easiest way to do this? I also need to be able to draw curves.

You're going to want to use Featurelines because they're the only choice that will handle curves in 3D. If you have existing 2D lines/Polylines. You can create a temporary Surface and add those as Proximity Breaklines. Then extract the Featurelines that are created as the breaklines.

I don't have any 2 lines in the drawing. At this point I have about 1/3rd of my drawing auto drawn with feature lines. How do I manually draw a curved feature line?

Start drawing the Featureline. At any point where a curve would start; Either drop down the choices from the prompt on the screen and select Arc or input (A)rc on the command line - Specify the next point or [Arc/Length/Undo].
