Feature line will not project to profile view

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have cut sheets of a roadway that consist of 5 profile views, I have a ditch flowline that is created by a feature line that runs parallel to the alignment. This feature line will project into the second profile view, but not the third. The elevations and stations are within the range of the profile view. The error I get is "There are 1 objects outside of the Profile view's station range and will therefore be ignored." Any thoughts?

Can you post am image showing the alignment & feature line for the portion not projecting to profile?

Ditch Flow Line Parallel to Roadway Sta. 8+00 to 12+ 00. From 12+00 Profiles ok, also the beginning at 7+95 to 8+00.

One thought is it doesn't like the Alignment PI after sta. 11+00.

(Please see image in This thread.)

I've not tested this myself relative to projections but with station offset labels, the sta. offset doesn't exist & therefore gets ignored.

As a test what happens if you add a small curve at the PI? Does it project then?

If my assumption is correct, as a workaround (2) separate feature lines could be projected (outside triangle area).

Couldn't do what you suggested, here's the drawing file if you want to see what is going on.

What I was thinking has nothing to do with your issue here.

Where is the Feature line not projecting to profile?

If you're referring to "Ditch FL 2" it appears in ((3) profile views & spans the entire adjacent range for "Main Rd." alignment.

sta. ~7+97-sta.~15+36.

If you're trying to add Ditch FL 2 to the pfl view for 16+00-20+00, it's being ignored & is out of range because it stops

short of sta. 16+00.

I see, you had  drawn a polyline in profile view representing "Ditch FL 2" in PV - (11) 8+00 to 12+00.

I'm able to get the Feature Line to project to PV - (11) (Sta. 8+00 to 12+00) by adding vertices to feature line "Ditch FL 2".

It appears the problem is, there isn't any feature line VPI information within the station range, so it's being ignored.

Draw lines, radial / perpendicular to the alignment at 8+00 & 12+00 through the feature line and select "Ditch FL 2" to see what I mean.

Using Command: _AeccInsertFeatureElevPoint to add points within the PV - (11) station range of 8+00-12+00 puts the feature line within the station range & the FL projects as expected.

I'm unsure if this is a bug in the Command: _AeccProjectObjectsToProf or if it's "as designed".

I think I'm having a similar problem.  I'm projecting a feature line that extends well past my alignment in plan; however, it doesn't appear the entire length in profile.  What am I missing here?  See attached plan view showing existing tracks along each side of my alignment.  Showing Station 411+50 (alignment the darker line).   Then review profile view and see how the projected Existing Top of Rail does not begin until Sta. 411+74.98.  From the PLAN, it appears to me it should run the entire length.  And adding vertices does nothing to change this.  Please advise any solution.

thanks very much!

This was the issue I was having with my profiles, and inserting an elevation point did allow me to project the feature lines to the profile. Thank you!
