Feature Line Point Filters

One of our Civil 3D users is having an issuing with using feature line point filters. When moving feature lines points that we want to keep the same z elevation we click the PI, type .z, 0, and then click the new location. The picture I have attached shows it working correctly on my computer. When the user does this they pick the PI, type .z, 0, and then the command line reverts back to the "Specify stretch point or [Base point/Copy/Undo/eXit]:".  It does not go to "(need XY):" and just loops back. Is there some user setting that needs changed in their profile. Let me know if you need any additional information.

I haven't tried that exact workflow but I would check if OSNAPZ=1 From the help:

ValueDescription

0

Osnap uses the Z-value of the specified point

1

Osnap substitutes the Z-value of the specified point with the elevation (ELEV) set for the current UCS

The onsapz setting does not appear to work for feature lines from my testing.

Hi Nathaniel,

Thanks for posting. On the PC that’s exhibiting the issue, could you try setting DYNMODE to 1 or toggling dynamic input by hitting F12? This sometimes resolves issues with command line behavior and input prompts.

If the problem persists, let us know, and we can explore other solutions.

that would be correct, for a brief stint in 2020 before the 2020.1 update, you could utilize OSNAPZ for Feature lines, but they took that out because too many people complained about the change of behavior from what it currently does, and what it did prior to the 2020 release.

Did you confirm your PICKFIRST variable is set correctly?

My right click macro looks slightly different:
