Feature Line from Alignment - Editable?

I have a feature line from alignment (and profile).  Easy enough to create.  The length of the alignment is 0+00 to 10+00.  I want this dynamic feature line to be only from 2+00 to 6+00, though.

I am presuming that there is no way to do this.  Is my presumption correct, or can someone lead me to the promised land?

It won't be a deal breaker if I can't do it, but it would be very helpful if I can.

Thanks.

Dear Friend,

If the profile is a surface profile you can do the following.

Use create alignment from existing alignment option from the ribbon.

The you can create the new alignment from 2+00 to 6+00 along the old alignment.

Then add the surface profile to the alignment.

Finally create the feature line.

If you have a layout profile I hope you may have a look at superimposed profiles.

Thanks

@deltacoolguy,

Great question with a direct easy answer, unless of course the question is interpreted differently. First I have created a screencast demonstrating the activities required and behavior of @Jeew-m's response to your question.  @Jeew-m, thanks for your response to @deltacoolguy's post.

In this case (screencast seen below), I made the Feature Line from station 2+00 to 6+00 as in your example.

Could Feature Lines be made to be dynamic and change when the referenced alignment changes?

  • To this...I don't believe there is a way to make it dynamically linked and managed through the geometry of the referenced alignment.

That being said here is an leading article about:

Feature Lines

Thank you both for your solutions.  After I posted the question the parameters changed and I ended up doing something slightly different, but I will keep this in mind for the future.
