I am wondering if it is even possible to export a LN3 file in C3D. LN3 files are commenly used with TOPCON Surveying equipment.
Thanks

Hi-

check out 5th post down from this old 2010 Forum Post:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-forum/topcon-design-model-format/td-p/2685957

I'm not sure if you trying to export a surface for machine control use or just a point file for a data collector.  The above thread sounds like a workflow for machine control use.

The other option (if you need a point file) is to explore the Survey Data Collection Link option in Civil 3D.  Go to the conversions drop down and see if there are any TDS options that will work for your case.

I hope this helps.

There must be a simpler way. Our subcontractor is using TopCon equipment that needs an LN3 file for their FC-500 Field Controller to show line work for Civil Utilities. Is there any installer or converter that Autodesk has to convert the DWG to a LN3 file once it has been reduced to a 2007 DWG file?

Hunter,
Export an XML file from Civil 3D. Or a DXF. The FC-500 should be able to use one of those.
