Exporting Civil 3D surface for import to Rhino

A subcontractor is using Rhino and needs our surface.  What is the preferred method for accomplishing this?  I do not have Rhino, and have no way of testing my results (apart from sending the exports to him and having him report the import).

It's a combined surface with many grading groups.  would I need to export those as well, or just the combined surface?

Rhino supports many of the 3d modeling file types that AutoCAD also supports. Convert your surface to a solid (Exportsurfacetosolid) and then export that using IGES, FBX, etc.
