Export to Shapefiles from AutoCAD objects

Hello,

I wanted to export some autocad polylines objects to Esri Shape files. In the export dialog box, Selection tab: I selected "Line" and select layers that i want to export. After going thru three tab in this dialog box, i still have the below error! No entity to export. Can anyone please tell me what i did wrong? Thank you!

I believe they must be polylines to export to SHP

If they are polylines, you must select Polygons instead of Lines.

Seattle,

Please post your drawing. I just tested it and using 2016 I was able to export both lines and polylines as "line".

Seattle,

Quick and dirty, here's a Screencast. There are LOTS of fine points in exporting a Shapefile, but we'll save those for another day. After you export to shp, check the file size. I got 397 KB. If you MAPIMPORT it back into a drawing you'll see that it has some "parts" around the origin, which makes it look like there's nothing there. But there is.
