Export to AutoCAD / Meeting Client Record Drawing Requirements

Hi folks,

I work at a civil engineering firm as a design tech.

We need to send out CAD record drawings of a project.

The problem is meeting the clients standards.

They want all sheets to be self contained with no xrefs.

This is a problem b/c when I try to bind/insert a design dwg to the sheet the viewports lose their layer settings, & everything gets turned on.

Also when I try to export a design dwg with profiles in it using export to autocad, it just does nothing at the end of the command, and doesn't create the new file.

On the profiles, I also tried wblocking or AECobjexplode which still deform my profiles.

Attached are their CAD stds. in PDF.

Appreciate anyones help, or tips on how to meet the stds.

Thanks

You could try the exportlayout command.

Make a copy of the entire project. Then use the file export utility and be be sure explode AEC object is set to yes. Select all the copied files to convert. Now go back and bind you xrefs. The client will only get primitive acad objects and still see your design

exportlayout failed on most sheets with profiles or grading.

I had to go into each xref/design detach all xrefs in them, purge, audit, then export to CAD or DXF.

Then insert all needed xrefs/designs into the sheet.

Then go look at the PDFs we sent the client as record dwgs, and match the VP layer settings by editing the blocks.

A real PitA.

Thanks for the tips people.

In the end there was no easy way to do this, and quite a pain.
