Error Report Dialogue Box Appears Frequently Even When C3D Did Not Crash

I am running C3D 2019 and a coworker C3D 2018.  We both are experiencing error report dialogue box pop ups when we open and sometimes close C3D when the program closed properly the time before.  Has anyone experienced this and can tell me how to fix it?

@bforr ,

Good post, welcome back to the forums, and I see that the CER dialog is populating with intersession activity, such as opening and or closing files. I wanted to ask a couple things to see if we can't find greater context to the issue.

  • Does this happen consistently?
  • Does this happen with all software open or close or just one, (Version?)
  • Do you notice if the A360 or Autodesk Desktop App is causing this?
  • When did you notice the behavior starting?
  • What product is demonstrated in the CER window that it wants to send:CERProduct.PNG

    Thanks in advance, for the answers.

Morning Cooper.  Thanks for the reply.  To answer your questions:

-It has been happening consistently multiple times a day for a really long time.  Months.  I can't pinpoint the exact day.

-It only happens with Autocad C3D 2019.  I use Infraworks some and I don't get any messages.  Happens when I boot the computer up and when I open and close C3D.

-I don't know if and app is causing this.

-As I mentioned before, it has been months.

-I guess I never looked so closely at the window error message.

So of course this morning, it did not do it.  First time in a long time.  A coworker has been having the same issue with his C3D 2018.  While responding to your post this morning, I decided to look through the Event Viewer and found Error events that say "The Autodesk Desktop App Service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 4 time(s)."  So maybe it has been the Desktop App Service.  I will ask my coworker if it occurred this morning to him.

@bforr ,

That error with the Autodesk Desktop App, will create a similar or the same CER message to populate, try an uninstall/ reinstall for that app and see what happens, I want to "capture" this if you were able to resolve it through those means. There have been some issues with that specifically, (ohh also, do you have the ability to save a screenshot of the log/ event viewer with the error message that I can use in the article to help people qualify the issue to being the Autodesk Desktop App) Thank you in advance!

so far today it hasn't occurred to my machine or coworkers.  We wondered if y'all tweaked the desktop app overnight or something.  Ah but I just checked my Event Viewer and there were errors saying the desktop terminated unexpectedly and I haven't had the error report box appear.  I am going to restart and see if it happens.  If it does I will capture the screen for you.

so when I just restarted the CER box appeared saying the Desktop App closed unexpectedly.  I checked event viewer and in the 3 minutes it was booting up, it had two errors saying it terminated unexpectedly.

@bforr ,

I looked at your CER and, that error report is created by the Autodesk Desktop App, and it appears as it is due to a "known issue" that appears being investigated by the development team.

So, for now I would try to uninstall, reinstall the desktop app, as it seems like this known issue is having to do with it failing to install completely in a clean manner, and is not consistently failing to do so in all cases. Please let me know how the uninstall / reinstall works for you so that I can apply that as a solution and help others.

@bforr ,

I wanted to follow up with you and see if the uninstall / reinstall of the Autodesk Desktop App helped alleviate the issue? It is a "known issue" but I wanted to see if I could capture some sort of solution. Please hit the Accept as Solution button if a post fully solves the issue or answers the question. Thank you for your participation, your accepting a solution adds value to the post for the community as a whole, and helps other members find answers to their issues.

I haven't had the box appear all day, so it appears to have fixed the issue.  My coworker had it happed twice this morning but did not uninstall and reinstall the app yet.  I think it will fix his problem also.  I sure appreciate your help.

I have been having the same problem with the error report dialog. It keeps poppin up every 5 minutes or so I close it and the drawing does not crash. I already tryed the unintsall reinstall Desktop APP and did a repair on Civil 3d install.

Still doing it.

Civil 3d has been working fine and did not have this issue until last Thursday when it started.

Pray tell what is up??
