Editing Alignment Label Style Causes Internal Error

I have an alignment label style for the centerline alignment set for the text size and ticks to be the correct size for a 20sc plan sheet.

We often change scale from sheet to sheet (mostly to 10sc or 30sc). When I edit the alignment label style to increase/decrease the text and tick size, it locks up and if I click anywhere inside the window I get an Internal Error. This happens about 90%, but about 10% of the time it works.

Any clue how to keep if from locking up, or suggestions on how to set it up differently?

,

It's seldom discussed (anymore) but the "annotative" concept is a cause of confusion (to me).
The styles define the plotted size of text and embrace the use of a text style that has no defined
height. Yes, it blows my mind too, but the L100, L80 approach only really applies to the instances
where you must use mtext, mleaders (or qleaders) and other, non-dynamic, non-c3d labels.

My suggestion is to use the new way and don't set up a style for a scale... the scale
conversion is to be automagic now.

Hope this helps,

JD

Thanks for the reply. I think I follow what you are saying and agree. Basically, we set up our CAD files incorrectly (drawing scale at 1=1, and our layouts at 1"=20'). Unfortuantly, I've fought this battle wih the powers that be, and lost for a lot of reasons I don't want to get into. So, I'm stuck this situation.

Why is it crashing is the real question?

I don't see that your approach to changing the style (it might behoove you to create multiple ones
with a copy method and switch them as needed) should cause a crash.

Do you have the most recent service pack? Do you have enough RAM? You could try an install
"repair" through the add/remove programs in Control Panel...

Good Luck,

becank,

Did the error submission dialog show up after the fatal error? If so,
please send in a report with details on what you were doing at the time.
I attempted to find any CERs with "becank" in them, but that turned up
empty. If you post any identifying information I can use to locate your
CER that would help. If you don't want to post it publicly, please send
me an email (use first.last@autodesk.com format).

Civil 3D version and service pack information is vital in diagnosing
these issues and known defects, so please post that in each message.

Thanks.
