Editing a DWT (template

I am simply trying to edit a DWT file to do things like add blocks fix some styles and things like that. Evertime i try and open the template drawing it simply opens a new drawing all together and not the actual DWT file

The easiest way in C3D is in Toolspace->Propsector, set to Master View, at the bottom it lists available dwt files. Right click on the desired template, select Open.

A couple of things:

I'd recommend typing CONFIG at the command line and going to Open & Save > Display full path in title as shown below. That way you always know what file you're working in.

Once that's set, Make sure you're opening a DWT in the Open dialog:

File > Open > Files of Type > .dwt

C3D_DWT.png

And, of course, pay attention to where your .dwt file is being saved. Don't assume it's going where you want it to go.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

As Joel illustrated, when you execute the Open command and set the "Type of file:" to Drawing template, you should then be taken to your drawing template folder. (as set in Options, file locations)  When you open in this manner you will be opening the DWT for editing.

Another option is to go ahead with it opening the DWT as a new file and then doing a Save As, set the file type to Drawing template and overwrite the DWT.

My preference is the way Jeff mentioned by opening them from Toolspace.
