Edit Sample Lines

I've got a bunch of sample lines for the cross sections of a roadway project and I'd like to edit a couple. Specifically, I'd like to change the sample lines so that they have more grips. Right now, I've got the standard sample lines: diamond grip at the center point, triangle and square at the ends. If you refer to the attached picture, you'll see the standard sample line and above it is a thick polyline that represents what I want to change it to. Is there a way to do that? I know I can move the sample line, move and shift the end points, but I need to add "joints" to the sample line. Is that possible or do I need to just create a sample line from the polyline?

I don' think you can edit sample lines or create crooked ones, just one PI in the middle.

With normal sample lines you can move one or the other end point. You can't zig and zag, making additional sample line angle points, without using a polyline.

Thanks, everyone who replied, I've been doing a little research on my own, and it does seem that the only solution is to use a polyline. I was hoping I could edit the existing line so I wouldn't have to re-draw the section, but it doesn't seem possible. Oh well, thanks again for all your efforts.
