DXF file conversion

I am trying to convert (Export) my civil 3d file to DXF file. When I try to open the file, the following window appear in the screen.

Could you explain why is it?

What method did you use to create the DXF? Did you use the Export to Autocad tool in the File menu? That tool will convert the C3D objects to plain ACAD objects based on the settings you choose. Simply doing a SAVEAS to DXF will not convert the C3D objects and the results will not be as desired.

Hi Neil,

I did export as DFX from C3D.

Also, I did try to export to DWG, then save it as dxf too.

Following error saw in command line,

Let me know if you need my file.

Thank you,

I don't know why you are having issues based on your comments in the forum. The error message you show is related to PDF files. Does your dwg have pdf files attached? If so, try detaching then export to DXF.

That question leads to doing basic troubleshooting. Save your file to a temp file and start deleting objects and exporting to DXF. The idea is to incrementally eliminate all the possible objects that might cause problems. Start with a broad selection of objects and narrow it down as you find them.

Also, as a prequel, I would do a save as of your drawing, explode everything, explode everything again and then export do a DXFOUT (same as the command your using in the menu). Like export to ACAD there are hiccups with sending things to DXF...

Hi Neil,

There was a pdf file. Once I detached it, the dxf export came out perfect.

Thank you,

Dharshana
