What does this "grid scale factor" actually affect in the drawing?
I am working in a drawing set up by someone else who has applied this factor manually.
Typically I have my topographic survey file which had already been created with the correct coordinate systems and scale factors to be set in the correct space geographically.
I then create my base file, reference in my topo, but leave this "Grid Scale Factor" unchanged at 1 in the base file. If my topo is set up correctly then everything I draw in my base file should fall in the correct spot on top of the topo. However, in one drawing this "Grid Scale Factor" was manually updated but I am not sure what this actually affects.
After doing some experimenting I found that adjusting this value has NO affect on the items within my drawing.
For example, if I draw a 1000' long line with this value set to 1, and then draw another 1000' line with this value set to 0.5, the lines still fall in the exact same spot, and measure exactly the same (including northing and eastings). Does the "Grid Scale Factor" matter in my base file?
