Why does C3D constantly redraw shortcut surface model contours when there are no changes to the surface? It drives me crazy when I am trying to make edits that have nothing to do with a surface and it runs through the "Displaying Contours" process. Today I wanted insert a block into my drawing and it took almost 5 minutes because of this.
I know a workaround is to set the surfaces to a No Display style, but that can result in having to republish a plan set because someone (me) forgot to turn them back on. We shouldn't have to do this in the first place.
What is everyone else doing about this?
P.S I'd like to meet the folks who created the new block insert dialog for some choice words. It is sooooo slow to respond. One of the many aggravating "enhancements" that have turned my everyday job into a slog through mud.
No advice, except that up here in the northern midwest states we wear swampers when slogging through the mud a-cadding.

New is not always improved. I still type CLASSICXREF, CLASSICIMAGE, etc. If they ever remove them I guess I'll have to recreate them myself.
XREF and GROUPS are 2 of the other "improvements" I had in mind with my comment. Why did they add imagery to the XREF dialog? It processes the image when you select one. MADDENING!
Ditto on the classic commands. I remapped my aliases to the classic commands.
ADESK seems determined to ruin our productivity lately. Maybe it is a spiteful way of saying "we got you, where else are you gonna go?"

I think it's more likely that the new crop of CAD users don't want to deal with words. Everything has to be an Icon. Just like all online news items have to be a video. 😝

Also it's like they want to bury the command prompt and pull down menus (MENUBAR off by default). Sad because those two are the best two interfaces to CAD that ever existed.
being CAD manager I make myself use everything OOTB, including and especially the UI, so that when users have questions I can be looking at the same thing that they are. But I thought the pull down menus made sense. Setting up and developing a project meant starting with the menu items on the left and working your way down as appropriate. Then move right to the next menu and work down. It was way more intuitive and apparent what method and order of application you should use.
I recently installed all the latest updates to address another issue. I'm sure everyone has experienced this behavior.
Don't get me started about the Ribbon.
i just hope autodesk doesn't start making self driving cars.

A couple of years ago we released a free Group Manager tool on the Autodesk App Store. You may find it's better than the new or classic group options. You can even backup group information to objects so that once inserted into other drawings, you can restore the groups!
