Dimensions acting funny

I use to be able to see dimension lines and arrows throughout the process of selecting their position. Now in 2020 The dimension lines and arrows are invisible until i make my selection of placement and final click. Is this normal? in 2020.....apparently I have forgotten how to properly do a screen cast

Looks like you have to select a specific command now.

Dimension (DIM) command does not show dimension preview when using an Annotative dimension style in ...

I might have never noticed that being an old keyboard jockey. I only use the ribbon for some Civil 3D commands.
