{ UPDATE }

This is a test of a new forum design

It is an A/B test in which 50% of the users will see the new design and 50% will stick with the old design.

Hey @Joe-Bouza (and all),

We are trying an A/B test to modernize some of the UX on the forums, make things you might be interested in easier to find, everything pretty much said in that screenshot that @ChrisRS very helpfully provided (thank you!).

The direct link to the announcement and official user feedback is located here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/community-announcements/we-re-testing-a-new-forums-experience-feedbac...

You can also DM me, let me know by tagging me back into this thread, etc. We understand it's a big change and we have already heard about a bunch of UX designs that would make it a better experience for the user, and that's the gold of A/B tests, right? We launch something temporarily, update the design with the feedback, make it perfect, and then hopefully release something that's even better for you- we've been getting complaints on the UX of the current forums for years, and we're working to improve.

A pre-thank you for any constructive feedback! We are ๐Ÿ‘€ at every one.

Amanda

The new design looks...off.

Some feedback points:

Make the first page the same width as when you click on a thread - it looks a bit cramped. Also get rid of "Trending" - there's way to little traffic here for it to make a difference, imho (or at least make "all" the default).

I think it would also help if the username of the person who started the thread wasn't written in bold like the name of the thread. Or maybe make the title of the thread a bit larger.

If you really want to change things, just copy the settings from the Dynamo forum - that one's way cleaner visually!

Edit:
There are also some issues with the rendering of the text. Some refreshes when clicking on your link display like that:

Here is my 2 cents.
-When I go to the C3D forum I am looking to help people fix their problems. I want to see the latest posts with the newest on top. I do not need to start the forum page with "Trending", I want to see "All".
-As I scroll down I'm looking for topics that apply to my knowledge and also have zero or only a few responses. If there are already quite a few responses I think "somebody that knows is probably already providing the answer" and I move on.
-I don't want to just look at "Unanswered" posts because sometimes a topic will catch my eye and I'll want to read it even if it's been answered.
-I also like to see the numbers for the users instead of "advocate", "participant", etc. (not sure what those mean). The numbers are helpful in that my response to someone that is a 1 or 2 will probably be more detailed than to someone that is a 9 or above.
-I'm not sure I would ever "Upvote" a topic. If I have a similar question (is that what "upvote" means?) I'll just follow the topic and check back in if I'm curious.
-Were the C3D Announcements pinned to the top of the old Forum list? I tried to find it via the new one and could not (followed the link at this post: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-forum/did-they-update-the-forum-format/m-p/13150804#M523425)
In short I guess I like the way the old forum worked.

Additionally, there is a whole heap of wasted space at the top of the page when you open a post.

When i first opened this post, I though I had been misdirected to a wish list item as I did not seen the replies below the post and there was an upvote button.

We are pulling and logging the feedback from here, too! I am going through and "liking" the post as the feedback gets input to the development team. You're more than welcome to log over in the other thread, too, but didn't want you to think this is wasted!

Thank you all for taking the time to give feedback - we really appreciate it.
