stumbled on an odd fix for our frequent broken references: open the source drawing, save it, go back to the drawing with a "broken reference" nearly every time, you'll get a prompt to synchronize references, click the bubble in the lower right OR use SYNCHRONIZEREFERENCES command. 9 out of 10 times this works and is 100 times faster than using the "repair broken reference" option in toolspace

the newer thing to do is to click "manage data shortcuts" under Manage tab. maker sure the Drawing objects in the left box match the data shortcuts in the right box and click the chainlink symbol between them but never ever ever right click and select repair broken reference - you'll hate yourself

This saved me a huge headache! Thanks for sharing

This was revealed from an hour+ phone call with autodesk about networks.  I asked why they didn't remove the right click "repair broken references" or make it link to this window - like most things CAD, I don't think they understand the code and so stuff get's left
