CUT & FILL VOLUME NOT GETTING GENERATED

Dear All,

My project is six-lane road (India). I have worked the corridor and detailed cross sections. All seem pretty well. But, the cut and fill volumes are not getting generated. I have provided all the vital information (like Top, Datum, Surface) in the Quantity Takeoff Criteria, but still the volume is shown as zero,zero.... What am i missing here? Any help please!

Hi @gaurkarv9

You have to add sample lines and then calculate quantities on the sample lines.

Did you do this step?

nkiakas,

I tried that thing also. But still, it is showing zero cut and fill.

Hi @gaurkarv9

I had a look to your file, there is no sample lines group (see the snapshot). Its mandatory to calculate material and then show to you the cut/fill quantities.

If indeed you created the sample line group, please share with me the vector file (dwg) not the XML.

I just have a look on your exported data to LandXML file, so you need to first check that your civil 3D file have sample lines or not, and then check in the Compute material list in that sample line group , you need to correct base and compare surface name, then i think it is solve you cut and fill calculation, you should get similar like this.

In my files, whenever i am considering  TTop for compare, it is showing volume,  But when I am considering DDatum, it is showing zero values. My pavement crust's top is "TTop" and bottom is "DDATUM". Therefore, I want to compare my natural ground (Surface_r1_...) with DDatum, but i am not getting it.

Hi @gaurkarv9 ,I just have a look on you cad file, then i found that surface "DDatum" is no information, no any statistic like this, that why you got zero.

teerawatpSCHYQ_0-1758092543282.png

but for surface "TTop" is have information , have statistics.

so, i can't check what wrong with your file as I not have your subassembly composer as well.

Hi @gaurkarv9

Delete the DDatum corridor surface and recreate it.

For both corridor surfaces let them work the links as break lines (tick the option) and use the top links as overhanging

nkiakas,

Thanks a lot for the timely response. As per the attached image, am I supposed to keep the Overhang Correction as "none" for the DDatum ?

Thanks.

Hi @gaurkarv9

What do you mean by no success for far?

Did you try to create again the DDatum surface and was empty? Or the surface created and can't produce quantities?

The option top/bottom in the overhang option are not related to top/datum link codes. In this option usually the correct is to top links overhang.

Dear nkiakas,

I deleted and recreated the DDATUM surface, and checked the breakline option, and used the Top, Bottom and None options for DDatum. But each time , the DDatum surface has no statistics and the cut/fill report is showing zero values. However, if I select the TTop surface, the cut/fill volumes are coming as per expectation. What am I missing here?

Hi @gaurkarv9

I noticed that the problem with DDatum surface is the boundary of the surface. Its been created with the option "Corridor extends as outer boundary".  Delete it, or define it, with another way and check again.

Why the surface boundary creating problems? I don't know. Could be several reasons

Work on this and let me know
