Creating Contours from a Surface

I have a Proposed surface and need to extract a ponding area. How can I produce a contour at the correct elevation for the ponding area? I havetried to use extract object, however it only lets me choose from points, triangles and boundary, so I cannot choose to extract a contour.

Which version of Civil3D are you using?

The objects you are able to extract are dependent on the Surface Display style.

For example, with an "Existing Contours" style, I can only extract minor and major contours:

However, when I change to a "Proposed Contours & Triangles" style, I have more options:

So assuming that your contours are displayed, you should be able to extract them. I am using Civil3D 2015 in this example.

Version of Civil 3D isn't really relevant but you can specify a User defined contour to extract, say, the 50.0 contour (or any other one(s) that you want)

Run an analysis on the surface and specify the User contour you wish to extract, then select a style that has User Contours On, then Extract the User Contour(s)

Ok I created the contours I needed, however, I Isolated the surface and cannot get the rest of my drawing back. How do you 'unisolate' an object. There is now option except "Isolate Object'
