Creating complex line type with shp file

Okay, so I'm creating a water tunnel line type. it has a centerline with "W" spaced periodically, and two dashed lines offset from the centerline, representing the tunnel walls. No problems creating it, made a shp file from the outside wall lines and made the linetype with the shp file, the centerline, and the W. The problem is - and I've looked at videos until my eyes are crossed - whenever I put hard angle bends in the line, the ends of the segments don't line up. (see image).

All, and I mean all, the videos conveniently demonstrate with curves, not hard angles.

Anyone have any insight?

How about a small(tiny) curve instead of a hard bend?

Try and set linetype generation to Enabled or Disabled. See what that does

Your line is acting as designed.

It looks like you are using a single shape to draw the line segments.
The shape is too long. Try making it about a quarter that long and have four instances of it in the line definition. Each instance will be placed perpendicular to the line. This will approximate curves.  You may want to make the shape a little long and have some overlap so that you do not open up gaps on outside curves. That will cause some overlap on inside curves.

Line types are a core AutoCAD feature; you may find additional information on the AutoCAD forum.

While you can make "complex" line types, the methodology is really quite primitive and limiting.
Microstation line styles are more robust but have their own limitations. If you have a Microstation RSC file, you can leverage the included line styles.

 I do ot know if Pipes or Pressure Pipes included better visualization. Investigate and report bac!
