Hello, for context in building a collision visual on a soil nail wall, the wall is 1.22 ft. thick and 12.4 ft. at the tallest. there are soil nails that are spaces evenly and I'm trying to show if there is going to be any collision between each other and how they meet with the face of wall, the issue that I'm having is that i cant figure out the best way top show the wall in 3d. that being as a solid or mesh, I could easily make this using a surface but I'm trying to improve my abilities in the solids area. in the pictures below you can see some different angles and a oblique of what I'm working with. I have already made the nails the correct length and size using the sweep command, I've tried this on the wall with using a base point and cross section but I couldn't get it to go without throwing error codes, I've also tried the extrude command but I need the solid to connect from the top of wall to the bottom of wall (lines in green and magenta) I have also tried the loft command and cannot get it to do what I and trying to get at. the only thing I have had success with is the 3d face command that works but at the expense of time having to make one side at a time for all 4 sides of this shape. some potentially useful information is that none of the vertexes are in the same spot in the x,y axis and for the z axis the only sections the same is in the middle where the top and bottom wall follow this before they taper off and meat each other at the ends, I'm in search of a better solution than the 3dface tool and in hopes there is a command that just makes a solid out of selected 3d poly lines. Thanks
In the past, I have modeled soil nails as Civil 3d Pipes. I can draw the pipe the length of the soil nail, and at the proper angle the soil nail needs to sit at. I can then take the first pipe and copy it at the proper horizontal & vertical spacing.
Since you have it as a pipe you can then use the CONVERTTO3DSOLIDS command on it. And you can also display all the soil nails in your wall profile if needed. You can also do pipe/pipe clash detection if you have any utilities behind it.
I know this isn't directly answering your question, but that is how I have done these in the past.
