Create Surface from 3D Polylines

Hi,

I am trying to create a surface of a carpark area.

I have a 3d polyline around the outer edge I want to use mainly.

I want to add 3d polylines as high points or low points (drainage channells) and see how the surface looks. If I need to, I can alter the high or low points for surface water drainage reasons, but my outer 3d polyline needs to stay the same, as this is an existing kerb.

Problem I am having, is I cannot get a surface to form at all!

  • So far, I have: Created a new blank surface
  • added the high/low points (3d polylines) as breaklines
  • added the outer 3d polyline as a boundary.

I also played around with adding them as contours but this was no better.

Would someone know where I am going wrong?

See attached DWG.

I am using Civil 3d 2014.

Many thanks,

Walter.

Your surface needs a style assigned that displays the contours. THe style you have assigned displays triangles.

You also need to thaw and turn on the surface layers used by the style.

Also don't add 3d plines as contour data unless they are all at a constant Z value. Add them as breaklines instead.

Turn on/un-freeze the surface layers and turn on the contours in your surface style or change to a style that displays contours.
