Create Reports - Lane Crossfall Report

Hello,

I am working on an existing road rehabilitation project. I created cross sections of the existing road surface, and now I need to find out the average cross fall (in %) for every section. I was wondering if I can generate lane cross fall report from sample lines? I couldn't see it under reports in toolbox though.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting. 

The Lane Report can be accessed from the Home or View tab >Palettes panel>Toolbox

I just checked, both 2020 and 2021 versions have the Report. 

Let me know if I misunderstood your question.

Thank you for the reply. I use Civil 3d 2016, and yes, it also has Lane slope report under "corridor". Although I couldn't use this option since I don't have a corridor, I work with an existing road surface, that has a different crossfalls along the road.

Section data tables similar to Alignment data tables would work for me, but I couldn't find a way to convert the labels on Section view into tags to be able to move them into a table.

Since I could not find a solution I just manually filled out a table with the data from section views 🙂

Depending on the complexity of the existing road, and how many stations for which you need the slopes reported, it could be worthwhile to create a corridor that targets the existing surface and pavement limits.

To build a corridor I will need to create an assembly and since this is an existing road that has different slopes along the alignment  I was wondering how I would create an assembly?

There are a number of ways you could go about it. Since you are really only interested in extracting the slopes, the easiest thing would be to create an assembly using something like the LaneInsideSuperMultiLayer subassembly. You don't need to worry about the various layer thicknesses, and just set some reasonable placeholder values for the width and slope parameters. Create a feature line along the outside EOP and drape it along your existing surface (Elevations from surface, insert elevation points). Create a corridor model and target the lane subassembly width and profile to the feature line. You'll now have a rudimentary corridor that emulates your existing road surface and which you should be able to use to extract the lane slopes using the report discussed above.
