Create a profile at the invert elevation of a pipe network

Hi,

 

I would like to create (as automatically as possible) a profile at invert level of a pipe network.

 

For now, I proceed as follows : i create my alignement from network, create a profile view, put the pipes and structures at the good elevations and then I create a profile by layout at the invert elevation of my pipe network on the profile view, i create a datashortcut of this profile and i use it to create a corridor of the hydraulic in another drawing...
So the final purpose is to have a corridor (with a specific subassembly) of the hydraulic network. But i'm wondering if there is an easiest way than "redraw" the invert profile, does anyone have an idea?

The Sincpac-C3D add-on package has the PipeProfiles tool to do this.

I know it doesn't help you now but profiling the pipe first then create the pipe from profile is a good workflow

So what is the best workflow ? You create an alignement, create the profile into the profile view (or a surface profile maybe ?) and then you create a pipe network from object ?

For me 

  1. create alignment for proposed route
  2. sample surface(s) plot PV
  3.  plot all crossing
  4.  draw a layout profile of inverts accounting for clearances
  5. create FL >> from alignment ( clear dynamic box)>> choose layout profile.
  6. create pipe network >> from object>> pick FL from 5

that's how I do it, edits are simple. if a major route change occurs I delete the effected parts, create the FL as above step 5 for a givien range. do 6. this make a new network, then I merge to the design

This is possible with Dynamo.  The only issue is if there is a drop across the structure.  It doesn't like that.

Thinking back on when this was made, I think it is rather picky.  It wants one network per alignment, so depending on how complicated your network is there might be some work to set things up. 

Another option might be to select the pipes you would like to profile and then set the alignment for that profile.  That should only change the front end of the Dynamo though.

This one was quick and dirty for a single project.
