CORRIDORS, SAMPLE LINE AND SECTION VIEW

GOOD DAY,

I AM CURRENTLY DESIGNING A THREE ROADS WITH TWO INTERSECTIONS AND ITS BEEN QUIET A CHALLENGE THUS FAR. DURING THE COURSE OF THIS DESIGN, I MADE SOME OBSERVATIONS TO WHICH I HAVE GOT A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS I SEEK ANSWERS TO

  1. WHILE DESIGNING BOTH INTERSECTIONS (EDO DELTA AND EDO NIGER), I CREATED SEPARATE CORRIDORS FOR THEM DIFFERENT FROM THE MAIN CORRIDOR (OSBORNE CORRIDOR) WHICH I USE FOR THE THE THREE ROADS EDO, DELTA AND NIGER STREETS. IN DOING THIS I NOTICED THAT I HAD PROBLEMS WHILE CREATING MY SAMPLE LINES FOR EACH OF THE ALIGNMENTS AS I HAD MULTIPLE CORRIDORS. MY QUESTION IS IT ADVISABLE TO CREATE DIFFERENT CORRIDORS (FOR BOTH THE INTERSECTIONS AND THE THREE ALIGNMENTS) AS I DID OR HAVE A SINGLE CORRIDOR FOR BOTH THE INTERSECTIONS AND THE ALIGNMENT? WHERE DID I GO WRONG IN MY DRAWING IF I DID AND HOW CAN IT BE FIXED?
  2. HOW DO I ENSURE THAT THERE ISN'T DUPLICATION OF QUANTITIES (EARTHWORKS, SUB BASE, BASE COURSE AND ASPHALT) AT THE INTERSECTION POINTS AS MY SAMPLE LINES SOMETIMES CROSS EACH OTHER AT THE INTERSECTIONS.
  3.  AFTER MY SECTION VIEWS WERE CREATED, I NOTICED THAT THE VALUES FOR MY PROPOSED ELEVATIONS DID NOT COME UP. WHERE DID I GO WRONG AND HOW CAN IT BE FIXED?
  4. I ALSO NOTICED THAT MY ASSEMBLIES DIDN'T DAYLIGHT TO MY EXISTING GROUND IN MY SECTION VIEWS. WHERE DID I GO WRONG AND HOW CAN IT BE FIXED?

THESE ARE QUESTIONS BEGGING FOR ANSWERS. THANK YOU. YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN WONDERFUL THUS FAR

@fiyahe7981 , thank you for patience.

Can you turn off in the future your "Caps Lock" button please? 😉

It's very uncovenient for me reading this. Thanks in advance.

I'll answer partly on your questions:

1) Look at this picture please

Explanation.png

You need to create the same quantity of corridors as you have types of pavement's constructions.

First Corridor (road) have the 1-st type of pavement's construction, Second Corridor (road) have the 2-st type of pavement's consruction, etc.

In the picture also you can see that intersections are also have been created inside First Corridor.

Also the next factors are: customer requirements, category of roads, etc.

In Civil 3D there is a possibilty to create second, third intersection inside first intersection's corridor (the last tab of Create Intersection function). Use this one please.

In the CIS countries we use this method to calculate volumes of design roads.

Accepted solution

2) If you'll use this method you automatically create conditions to have only correct values.

Also there is a different method to calculate separately:

  • stretch of road (region between two intersections);
  • All intersection's regions.

If you will use this method you need to create several corridors:

  1. Primary road corridor (except all intersections);
  2. Second road corridor (except all intersections);
  3. All intersections (use the function above).

The main factor is - How do you need to calculate your volume values?

Thank you @Karadzhaian_Eduard  for your prompt response. below are the questions with  the CAPS off as earlier requested.

Thank you @Karadzhaian_Eduard. My only challenge now is my question No 3. I am still having challenge of my proposed elevation on my cross section view not being visible. How do i overcome this?
