Check your targeting.

 

Look at Event Viewer and read the errors. Don't know what they mean? Post here.

What does Target mean?

Surface or polyline??

Many subassemblies have intelligent points that can "target" another alignment, a polyline, or a feature line for the subassembly width. You might enter 12' as the default width, but that can be overridden by targeting. See the Targets column in Corridor Properties, Parameters tab.

Like you said, look at the event viewer, probably did not find anything and went straight to Elevation "0".
