Converting UTM coordinates to 3TM to Latitude and Longitude.

I am hoping this is possible to do within Civil 3D, but I am not sure. There are times that we are getting survey data done in UTM but we maintain our maps in 3TM systems. There are times that our surveyor won’t go through the process of converting them. I am hoping there is a way to import point files into Civil 3D and convert them to 3TM coordinates.

Also, I have been requested to pull of Latitude and Longitude coordinates for our maps that are done in 3TM. Is there a way to pull up the required Latitude and Longitude quickly enough in Civil 3D?

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Mat,

Yes, all is possible. First, some questions. Which 3TM are you using?

Have you added the NTV2_0.gsb grid file to your Coordinate System Library? If not, read <<<This>>>.

As for the Latitude and Longitude, do you want to export them in a Text or CSV file? That's very do-able.

I believe we are using Zone 114, NAD83.

Mat,

OK, so your drawing is assigned a <<<CANA83-3TM114 Coordinate System>>>. You'll import the UTM Coordinates with a Point File Format like this:

And you'll export Lats and Longs with this:
