Contour Breaks, Gaps, etc...

What is the story with this? (see attached image)

The area you see is bounded by feature lines/spot grades etc and for some reason the contour has a big 'ol gap in it. Why is this happening? It almost looks as though it is cutting off at the feature line itself (deeper purple). C3D 2007 sp1a.

I didn't see anything else explaining this in the forums so I posted - hope I'm not being redundant!

Thanks!

Basically, your surface isn't defined in that area. If you turned on your TIN or your border, you would see a gap there.

Thanks! However, the surface is defined in that area - that's part of the mystery. In the above image you can see the parking area is bounded by feature lines and spot grades used to define the surface...

Have you looked at it in Object Viewer, with the surface shaded? There
could be a missing face or two there.

Have you checked out the triangles in that area? You might only need to rearrange you TIN lines to solve the problem

This is something that I've come across a number of times, but it's never been a big thing for me and it sort of comes and goes, even within the same drawing, same drawing session, so I've ignored it.

Mostly the problem's been on "slivers" of contours, almost like the face isn't there even though it is. I think it's something to do with the mask not recognising a couple of individual faces of the surface object, but I don't know.

Sorry that doesn't help, but at least you're not alone.
