Hi Guys,

Please, which comparison is best for presentation for the client (s)?

Is it the comparison between the existing ground surface and Corridor top surface, which gives the cut and fill required to shape the terrain?

Or, is it the comparison between the existing ground and corridor datum surface, which gives you the box cut earth worth |volume statistics for cut and fill?

Earthwork is defined as a comparison between the Corridor Datum surface and the Stripped EG surface.

Thanks for the response.

I am basically referring to road design, so the stripped EG surface means the existing EG surface.

Always cut and fill volumes will be calculated with comparing datum surface and EG. Instead of EG you may use stripped EG as well.

The statement is not accurate.

"EG" alone by itself,  delivered by survey, typically consists of a layer of topsoil which is not to be included in Earthwork calculations.
